Leo was born, brought up, and art-colleged in Scotland. His degree is in Drawing & Painting, Edinburgh College of Art, 2002. Landscape and nature are Leo’s inspiration both artistically and personally. He is a keen supporter of conservation and is quite obsessed with birds. His work is mostly from life, often out-of-doors watercolours. Leo gives talks and tutors and runs adults’ and childrens’ workshops, including for Art in Healthcare charity, local authorities, private groups. ScotRail support Leo’s ongoing Scotland by Rail project, and he has received awards from The Bet Low Trust, The RSW and the Royal Over-Seas League. Leo’s largest commission is on permanent display at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh. Leo has two books published – ‘Sketches from Canada’ and a large coffee-table book ‘Landscapes and Birds of Scotland: an Artist’s View’. Leo’s mother ( is also a member of AAS.
