My practice revolves around a curiosity and exploration of different printmaking methods. With my etchings, I find that I naturally gravitate towards a painterly approach, focusing on the range of marks and tones that can be achieved through different techniques, soft-ground and sugar-lift being some of my favourites. Inspired by storybook illustrations, I am drawn to a looser, sketch-like style with my work, using expressive lines and brushstrokes. I build up tone directly onto the plate in layers, creating an ink-wash effect before adding more bold, gestural lines to ground the image.
