My practice centres around the thematic concept of MRI and reimaging this through an artistic scope. Moving and transforming objective data to a subjective interpretation thus re-imagining the human body through physical and digital modification. By Incorporating an element of texture, colour and touch therefore inviting the senses to interpret the art and how this makes the individual feel. This creates a feeling of Inner and outer ownership and control. Showing Hands on dexterity and grounding an embodied cognition therefore helping to processes emotions using tactile interaction to physically stimulate the senses. My practice also explores functional ventilation information within MRI and looking at how this can be interpreted in a creative tactile way using the language of printmaking and digital manipulation.
I have been collaborating with the IMS (institute of medical science) Medical Imaging Technologies Theme over the past year to acquire scans of myself from different imaging technologies at both very low and high magnetic field strengths.
